Stone Butch Blues and the start of Fall Semester 2008

This book is an assigned read for my English 102 class.
It's about lesbians and transvestites during the sixties. So far It's actually pretty good. Not something I would normally even think of reading, not for any reason but that I prefer light easy reads to heavy, important reads.
Any how, classes started yesterday and I'm about to leave (20 minutes or so) but I got up at 6 this morning and didn't have a book downstairs with me so I started this.
It's good. Maybe I'll do a post when I finish.
I liked all of my classes yesterday.
I started with Into to Iroquois. I think I'm really gonna like Tarbell, the Mohawk who teaches the class. He's really funny.
It's strange he has longer hair than Hippie Man (Dr. Frederick Kowal, chair of Social Sciences) and yet he's just cool, not creepy at all.
My archery class is going to be a nightmare. There's a competitive archer in the class!
My music class is going to rock I think. I love classical music and that's one of the big units. Also I'm attending an Emerson Drive concert next Friday Sept. 5 and she said that since it was a music course, and it was a concert it was fine (EXCUSED ABSENCE, no lowering of my grade!!). Which is great because this Friday, I'm showing cows, seeing a Trent Tomlinson concert and.... spending the day with my best friend Chantele, whom I haven't seen since graduation, as well as meeting her fiance John.
Whoohoo! Did I tell you I'm going to be a bridesmaid at their wedding? Yikes! Me? In a dress!!! Actually I'm really looking forward to it. I think I"m going to like formal wear!
But for today, we have long breaks and an adviser to track down, as well as a new DVD, that is of course going to class with me. Keanu Reeves' Point Break.

Congrats on school starting. Mom says she read that book, too.

It's a really good book. I was really surprised! It's so not the type of thing I normally read!
