Booking Through Thursday from Breathless Mind

I’ve asked, in the past, about whether you more often buy your books, or get them from libraries. What I want to know today, is, WHY BUY?

Even if you are a die-hard fan of the public library system, I’m betting you have at least ONE permanent resident of your bookshelves in your house. I’m betting that no real book-lover can go through life without owning at least one book. So … why that one? What made you buy the books that you actually own, even though your usual preference is to borrow and return them?

If you usually buy your books, tell me why. Why buy instead of borrow? Why shell out your hard-earned dollars for something you could get for free?

I love the library system! But I own so many just because I love to have them. My bed room is filled with them.

I have many, many Sabatini's most of which I read library copies first. Sea Hawk was great so I got myself a copy.

Same with my Tamora Pierce's. Read library copies, then mommy got me some for Christmas.

Other books just look good and the library won't have them.

I hate it when the library doesn't have a book. I like to try before I buy. I think Tamora Pierce's books were the first series I made an effort to own.

I know what you're saying! I much prefer reading then buying, than the other way around!
