Booking Through Thursday

Which is worse?
Finding a book you love and then hating everything else you try by that author, or
Reading a completely disappointing book by an author that you love?

I find being disappointed by an author I love far worse. (I'm defining author I love as someone like Bruce Coville whom I've read multiple series by and enjoyed most of them, or Mercedes Lackey, every series she's written has been a huge disappointment towards the end.)
I find this worse because I already know I love this person's work and they're falling short of what I know they can do.
I'm not bothered by the second or farther books I read by someone new being things I don't like (Steven King, like a few, hate a lot) because when I hit on one or more that I do like I'm pleasantly surprised...

And Yes I know I still owe posts on
Watchmen
Princess Ben
and a least a couple others

Hmm the only time I can recall being disappointed by a book whose other works by the other I had enjoyed was one of the later Tom Clancy novels . I cant remember the title off hand .

Kristen- Heard of her never read her.

underthepaw- again never read him.

I think I end up with unnaturally high expectations for books and as such find them not as good as most normal people.

Good point... It makes me feel like somewhere along the line someone thought, 'oh well, it's good enough' and that the fans will buy it anyway out of loyalty.
