a while ago underthepaw did a post on why atheist so here's one on why a believer

I don't need proof. I have this thing called faith. I don't need to be able to say "here is irrefutable evidence of God". From years of studying sciences Bio chem etc. science changes incredibly often. I mean they can't even decide how to name animals (scientifically) they just keep changing it. But I should have more faith in that? Riiight.

As my older readers know, I'm just as annoyed by fundamentalist Christians etc as I am by the rabid athiests who want to take "under God" out of the Pledge. It's been in there over 200 years deal with it...

There was a time when if someone decided they didn't believe in the Christian God he/she was burned/hung/disemboweled (fascinating the things they could get away with
). Or you know the whole whacking Protestants thing in France... Hey I did retain some history classes.

I now have to sit through classes where the mantra is how wonderful Death is (another post altogether) and how Christians are "horrible" "unethical" "immoral" and how some of the best people are atheist. I won't argue with that there are wonderful atheists out there. Most of my college friends are atheists. But I don't understand how Christians have become these horrible things to so many people. I'm not saying there aren't some really nasty ones and that there haven't been even worse ones through time. But there are just as many evil people in other religions and there are incredibly evil atheists too. I don't know any personally but evil exists everywhere.

I also sit through a bio class where the professor goes on about how God making the world is a load of... You get the point... I find it far easier to believe God made the Earth and the water on it then I do to believe that some random asteroids containing crystallized water from somewhere else managed to hit our relatively small planet and melt. (also feel free to irrefutably prove that one to me, good luck with the time machine).

Also as far as evolution and the whole 6 days of creation and rest thing... How do we know God is to the seventh day yet? How do we now evolution isn't just God tweaking Man until He's satisfied? Time is an entirely human construct.

Although that could go into how do we know we're not just in some one's video game or something.

Hey anything is possible.

Also if this is a little rambly and difficult I'm hyped on meds and have a nasty sinus infection. Also less then 2 hours of sleep last night.

also something interesting my friend Kristin used as her status on facebook: It's okay to leave a path of destruction to Hell. It can't get any worse.

@ Breezey Interesting read . I have a question or two .
Do you apply the standard of not requiring any evidence to any other aspects of your beliefs ?

Ie would you be OK with a jury convicting or finding somebody innocent on notions of faith rather then evidence ?

What I'm saying is I don't need proof of God exists that is irrefutable. Just because I see something as absolute evidence of Him doesn't mean anyone else will, belief is subjective. Sort of like whose a better bass player Arlo Gilliam or David Wilson. You can't really define it. Well I suppose you could but what defines it would be different for everyone.

I'm not saying that belief in God is an excuse to commit or to be let off a crime. I don't think God should ever be used as reasoning for why someone committed a crime or the whole "well I confessed to God and was pardoned of my sin ergo I cannot be tried in the courts of Man" as far as I'm concerned just 'cause God let you off doesn't mean we can't have a go at you too.

Nor do I think that Atheists should be treated differently than Christians etc in the court of law.

As far as I was concerned my post was just on my beliefs as pertain to myself and my lifestyle not to the world as a whole.

I'm fine with spiritual beliefs and government etc being separate, I just don't think that one small group, only around 15% of America's population should get to tell the rest of the country what they can and cannot do.

Does that answer your question?
