Biology lab and OCD

My OCD is for the most part very managable.
It really doesn't bother me. I deal with it. It's mostly obsessing over random thoughts more than the touch the doorknob 15 times before opening it.
Othertimes it leaps out and drives me crazy.
Take today for example.
In biology lab we're doing bacteria. Not dangerous bacteria, just bacteria.
We're supposed to wash our hands before and after handling it.
Before wasn't a problem.
After on the other hand... That was a nightmare.
Of course Mr professor dude is standing less than ten feet away from me and there are three people left in class. I finally gave up on getting the okay to leave and just packed up.
So here I am wanting to do my OCD wash. IE boiling water, a ton of soap and about twenty minutes... And I can't... Still haven't... Will in a few I had hoped the OCD wash temptation would leave... No such luck. I'm almost getting shaky. Not quite. But it is really annoying me that my hands don't feel as clean as I feel they should.
So I am going to wash them veeery soon.
Does this make me extra strange?
Or do you sometimes feel the need to obsessively wash your hands?

Not to the extent that you do, but I am one of those people who carries a bottle of Purell around in their bag and will use it after opening a bathroom door/touching an escalator/pushing a supermarket trolley etc.

Now see I don't carry Purell. I did at one point but the bottles always broke under all the books in my purse!

Ooh! That wouldn't have been fun to clean up! I'll have to be aware of that if I ever overload my bag with uni stuff!

Yeah and it doesn't do nice things to books!
