I am as ever sorry about how long it has been since I last posted. It has been a difficult thing writing a post. What with working two jobs, two months or so of a shared computer with my mother, no big deal I love having something to hold over her head for hugs (bwahahahaha), negotiating the possibility of a puppy in my future (been waiting since I was around 9 for the okay on that one) and the lack of heat from November until just recently, I have not felt like posting much. I hope to be able to remedy that post haste!
This year I have set out to track the books I read. And yes I have set number goals. 600 books read through once. Rereads of previously read books acceptable, otherwise I would have great difficulty completing the goal as I need to read around 2 books most days to make it. And a goal of 1100 books total, rereads from this year acceptable. I tend to read books 4-5 times so this should not be a problem.
As far as how I'm coming I'm focusing on goal one for now. It's the ninth of January and I have already finished 17 books. I need to read one more today to be on track. I have no doubt that I will fall behind again and play catch up this weekend when I am off from work. This experiment should prove interesting I find that I really don't have too much trouble remembering to write down what books I finished over night. And of course I do LOVE to read!
As far as what books I've read recently that I am looking forward to doing posts on I must say Cynthia Hand's debut Unearthly was an instant hit for both my mother and myself. I am greatly looking forward to book 2 Hallowed, to be released the 17th of this month. I am pre-ordering it. I look forward to devouring it as quickly as I did the first.

I MUST be psychic
Just hours after writing my last post I got around to checking my Yahoo! email... Guess which mailing list had contacted me? With some SUPERB news?

Booking Through Thursday
- Series? Or Stand-alone books?
I like both actually.
Stand alone books tend to leave me wanting more. The best examples being The Rising of the Lark and Circus Sequins. Mom has no problem with accepting that the couple in The Rising of the Lark get together and that Roxy returns to the Big Top... I however am less trusting. Neither book had the happy nicely tied together ending I like from a book... Probably why I like Romance novels so much. Yet I love stand alones. The Perilous Gard is a particular favorite of mine as is The Sherwood Ring.
Most of my favorite books are part of series. Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr. Wild Magic, Wolf Speaker, The Emperor Mage, The Realms of the Gods. The Summoning, The Awakening, The Reckoning. Into the Land of the Unicorns, Song of the Wanderer, Dark Whispers, The Last Hunt. The Childern of the Lamp. Foundation, Intrigues, Changes (best part of this post? New Lackey book!). Series tickle me in a special way. I am able to develope relationships with my favorite characters. I know some people don't understand the way I feel about the people in books. I absolutely love some of them. I find myself forcing my mother to read the ends of books to ensure that my characters survive. Still not over the killings of Snape and Moonheart (The Last Hunt). And mom was suitable frustrated as she did not particularly enjoy that series and was not inclined to read them. Sad.
While I understand the frustration some people feel in waiting for books in a series to come out... That is one of the best parts for me. I always have something to look forward to . My life consists mostly of work, more work, televison, and booksbooksbooks. Mostly books. I generally am waiting on three or four books to come out at any given point. Most are actually Romance novels, I enjoy the happy endings. And the rest are my die-hard favorite series or new books by favorite authors. I waited 5 or 6 years for Dark Whispers to come out. I check constantly for new Lackey and until this week Paolini release dates.

Okay been a LONG time
I've had my computer back up and running for a few weeks now. Still has a broken screen but we'll get that fixed eventually or buy a new computer.
I'm still working at McDonald's and despite not posting anything I haven't stopped the whole reading thing. In fact I'm actually writing a few posts today to publish over the next few days.
Also I'm looking for suggestions for Young Adult books to read as my mainstay authors have been finishing up the series that I read or lolly-gagging in publishing. (Still waiting on a release date for the last Inheritance book... come on Paolini!)
More soon I swear!

OH MY GOD!!! Harper Connelly book 4: Grave Secret: tentative date: October!!!
WHOOHOOO!!!!
I love the Harper Connelly series by Charlaine Harris.
They're not G-rated. But I may do posts on them at some point.
I love Tolliver. Harper's step-brother/boyfriend.
I'm hoping that in this book she finds her sister although I think that the series would be over if she does.
I just randomly checked her page this morn-... okay this afternoon but I've only been up three hours so it's morning to me.
I'm so excited, but I'll be at Potsdam then... Hopefully. Maybe... It's possible..
A good new book this year. now I think I'll check out Christine Feehan's page and look for new books in the Dark series and the Drake sisters... Although I think the publish date for the last Drake sisters novel is this July. I won't preorder that one. Wal-Mart will have it and buying it there will save me a few bucks shipping.
